Sitemap Submission
Telling search engines where your sitemap lives, via Search Console, Bing Webmaster Tools, or robots.txt.
Sitemap submission is how you make search engines aware of your sitemap's location. The main methods are submitting the URL in Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools, and adding a Sitemap: line to your robots.txt so any crawler can find it.
Note that Google deprecated the old sitemap ping endpoint (/ping?sitemap=). You no longer notify Google of changes by pinging a URL — once a sitemap is known, Google re-reads it automatically on its own schedule. Keep the sitemap at a stable URL and keep it accurate; that is what matters now.
Submit the sitemap or sitemap-index URL once, then rely on automatic re-reading. Search Console will report how many URLs were discovered and flag issues. Indexly hosts your sitemap at a permanent CDN URL, so the address you submit stays valid as the content updates.
