Sitemap markup that describes video content on a page so search engines can index and surface it.
A video sitemap uses <video:video> tags to describe video content on your pages: title, description, thumbnail URL, content or player location, and optional details like duration and publication date. It helps search engines understand videos that are hard to detect from page HTML alone.
It is useful when video is a primary content type and you want eligibility for video results and rich features. Because much video is embedded via players or loaded dynamically, crawlers benefit from explicit metadata rather than guessing.
Provide accurate thumbnails and descriptions, and make sure the video files or player pages are actually accessible to crawlers. Like image entries, video tags can live inside a normal sitemap. Keep the metadata truthful — mismatched thumbnails or titles can make a video ineligible for enhanced results.
